TxDOT Hearing On FM 1093 Slated

The highly-anticipated improving of FM 1093 east of Fulshear will be the topic of a public forum this month. Currently an undivided two-lane highway, the proposed project would consist of a four-lane divided tollway with nontolled frontage roads. This part of the FM 1093 project spans from SH 99 (Grand Parkway) to FM 1463 near Cross Creek Ranch subdivision. The hearing is at 6 p.m. July 31 at Seven Lakes High School, 9251 South Fry Rd., Katy. The project received a finding of no significant environmental impact from the Federal Highway Administration in May. At least one prior public meeting was conducted on FM 1093, when Fulshear-area residents gave input on the design aspects inside city limits. Additional right-of-way would be required for certain proposed design changes; however, no displacements or relocations of residents or businesses would be required, according to documentation for the July 31 forum. Fulshear City Manager C.J. Snipes said this is a highly anticipated project needed due to the growth in the community.

Fort Bend County officials will be present along with the Texas Department of Transportation. “This portion of the project will stop before it reaches our city limits,” said Snipes. “It will benefit us by increasing traffic flow and hopefully reducing commute times for our residents once the project is complete.” Schematic plans may be viewed prior to the meeting at the Fort Bend County Engineering Offices at 1124 Blume Road, Rosenberg, and the TxDOT Houston District Office, 7600 Washington Ave., Houston.
