HOA Recap of Weather Event in April, 2016

The National Weather Surface rainfall dataset for April 18 identified that the Fulshear area south of FM 1093 received between 7 and 8 inches of rain in a 12 hour period. The intensity of the rainfall equates to a 50-year, 12 hour event. In the upstream Fulshear/Bessie’s Creek watershed within northern Fort Bend and into Waller county, the watershed received rainfall totals of over 16 inches, which is well in excess of the 100-year, 24-hour event. The large rainfall totals contributed to the high flood levels along Bessie’s Creek. Collected field data of high water marks indicate that the peak flood level at the Fulshear Lake outfall structure (behind the recreation center) was elevation 98.2. This is 3.6-feet below the identified 100-year water surface on Fulshear Creek of 101.8.
